Captain flint gay
We can all look back and say, "Yup, right there. After a young merchant sailor named John Silver (Luke Arnold)—whose name might ring a long bell, eh!?—has his ship overtaken by Flint’s pirate vessel The Walrus, he joins the crew, and becomes. The plot on this makes it most definitely a must watch.
So you'd really have to stick with it for everything to make sense. Now the show's a "must watch" for me. I think the payoff came with the huge reveal in season two. Captain James Flint is the glue that holds Black Sails to Treasure Island, so Toby Stephens’s portrayal definitely takes liberties with Flint’s sexuality.
I love adventure stuff anyway. As a young naval officer, Flint unwittingly chooses between gaining power over the lawless, pirate-infested island of Nassau, and a quiet life with the English nobleman he’s in love with. Maybe Stevenson had this in the back of his mind, but because of the norms of the day Well, probably not, but it does take the story and give us something new to see in it.
But it sounds great. But I want to watch them both just as soon as I figure out how. I haven't seen Back Sails but I'm impressed that everything comes together with this big reveal. So to make your lead character gay (and to hide it from viewers for season) is a HUGE risk they took.
The simple reality is that straight male viewers generally speaking don't have a high level of interest in gay characters / plotlines. Perhaps I should have stuck with it a bit longer. Okay, that makes sense. Haven't seen the show, but maybe if I ever get Starz I'll have to check it out.
‘Black Sails’ Star Toby Stephens Talks Flint’s Gay Romance: ‘He Became Himself’ (Video) Starz pirate drama’s lead actor tells TheWrap what the relationship means for his character. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, and it was superb. Yeah "butt pirates" has been all over the internet regarding this episode.
I don't have Starz, so I've been missing out on both this show and Outlander. Prior to the events in Black Sails, Flint served in the British navy but was forced to become an outlaw because, as stated by VICE, “England took away the one thing he cherished most: his boyfriend.”.
What a mind-blowing plot. Instead of just throwing it out there, they did let the audience get to know Flint, and now that it's been revealed that he's gay, I think it makes all the pieces fall into place and fit quite nicely. Apart from Eleanor and Anne, the other major character considered to be bisexual is Captain James Flint.
I haven't seen this. I think the writers did a great job with this. In fact, James’s whole mission is to fulfill his former lover Thomas Hamilton’s goals of saving Nassau. I watched the first three episodes and while the cinematography was great I found the story muddled and the characters not engaging.
I can tell you history nerd that I am that real-life gay pirates and warriors were a lot more common than people realize. A very intellectual man once told me that he loved Treasure Island and that it was brilliantly written, so it's not just a book for kids.
